Comment from U.S. Department of the Interior:

@Scott_Kranz wrapping up my takeover of US Interior with this Yosemite pic. Bridalveil Falls strongly flows down into the iconic Yosemite Valley fog, after a day of intense rainfall. Extraordinary scenes like this make it clear why millions of visitors explore Yosemite NationalPark each year. Whether you hope to look up at El Capitan’s shear rock face or take in sunrise over Half Dome, or any of the other countless sights in the valley or beyond, a visit to Yosemite is always a magical experience that’s never forgotten. - @Scott_Kranz yosemitenps california usinterior findyourpark

Comment from U.S. Department of the Interior:

@Scott_Kranz here again. Before moving to the Pacific Northwest over four years ago, I'll admit I only vaguely knew of Mount Rainier, the most prominent and glaciated peak in the contiguous United States. Since then, this stunning peak and MountRainier NationalPark as a whole has become one of the most special places to me. I've now spent countless hours staring up at this active volcano from the backcountry, witnessing it hide in and out of clouds, reflect off of still alpine waters, and bask in warm alpenglow ... a mountain and national park I once barely knew. Just think about the parks that you have yet to discover and that will become your own special places. - @Scott_Kranz mountrainiernps washington usinterior findyourpark

Comment from U.S. Department of the Interior:

Scott Kranz ( @Scott_Kranz) here, and I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite images on the US Interior’s instagram page today. Although it’s hard for me to choose a favorite national park, Denali NationalPark stands out in my eyes. After a visit to Alaska and a trip into the Denali backcountry last fall, my idea of "wilderness" undoubtedly changed. There's the Denali wilderness -- with its unspoiled and untouched terrain and diverse wildlife -- and then there's wilderness everywhere else. After your own visit to Denali maybe you'll agree. - @Scott_Kranz denalinps alaska usinterior findyourpark

The short Alaska summer pulls back a blanket of snow and offers visitors epic views of mind-boggling landscapes. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve is our country’s largest national park and home to wide river valleys, towering mountain ranges and a glacier larger than the state of Rhode Island. Add in amazing wildlife and volcanoes, and this park is an adventurer’s dream. Photo by Jacob W. Frank, NationalPark Service. FindYourPark usinterior

There are some moments in nature that leave you breathless. Take an early morning walk in Chincoteague National WildlifeRefuge in Virginia. Follow the trails past calm wetlands. Listen to night noises begin to quiet. Look up over a misty field to see the golden sun rise above a stand of trees and let the beauty wash over you. The 101-foot tall Rainbow Falls is just one of the many natural wonders found at Devils Postpile National Monument in California. Nestled in pristine mountain scenery, the DevilsPostpile formation is a rare geologic spectacle of hundreds of symmetrical basalt columns. Lucky glimpses of black bears and pine martens amaze hikers. Wildflower blooms bring vivid color to the landscape. Don’t you want to see it all now? Photo by Cat Connor (www.sharetheexperience.org). FindYourPark usinterior

As this summer is reaching its climax, the lower elevations around GlacierBay National Park ( @glacierbaynps) are gaining a velvet-green appearance. Happy birthday to the Appalachian Trail! Completed on August 14, 1937, the A.T. is a 2,180-mile long footpath that traverses the Appalachian Mountains from Georgia to Maine. Conceived in 1921 and built by private citizens over the next 15 years, the entire AppalachianTrail has been conquered by over 17,500 thru-hikers. Most challengers start off in Georgia in March and April and take 5-6 months to complete the journey. Along the way, hikers push their limits, make friends and enjoy spectacular scenery. It’s a great place to FindYourWay. Photo from the A.T. in Shenandoah National Park ( @ShenandoahNPS) in Virginia by Kah-Wai Lin (www.sharetheexperience.org). usinterior

One of the most strenuous trails in NorthCascades National Park ( @ncascadesnps) reaps stunning rewards for those willing and able to make the grueling trek. The historic lookout on the summit of Washington’s Sourdough Mountain can be approached via Diablo or Pierce Mountain sides. Both trails are steep, and both pass through forest and meadow communities before arriving at the rocky lookout site with views of lakes, peaks and glaciers in every direction. Located in the Northwest corner of Alaska, above the Arctic Circle, Noatak National Preserve is one of our most remote and least visited public lands. Ringed by mountains, the Noatak River basin preserves an intact ecosystem of Arctic plants and animals. Home to the Inupiat people, the preserve provides subsistence and protects cultural traditions. Located within the Pacific Flyway, Sonny Bono SaltonSea National WildlifeRefuge in California is an important resting and nesting place for migrating birds. With a fascinating history and an uncertain future, the refuge takes visitors 227 feet below sea level to witness a stunning desert landscape. It can get extremely hot in August, but well prepared adventurers can still find gulls and migrating shorebirds. Sunset photo by Sarah Chah (www.sharetheexperience.org). usinterior

The Needles forms the southeast corner of Canyonlands National Park in Utah and was named for the colorful spires of Cedar Mesa Sandstone that dominate the area. Hiking trails offer many opportunities for long-day hikes and overnight trips, while foot trails and four-wheel-drive roads lead to such features as Tower Ruin, Confluence Overlook, Elephant Hill, the Joint Trail and Chesler Park (pictured here). Run turtle, run! 🐢💨 On July 29, PadreIsland National Seashore in Texas had its last turtle release of the year, sending 184 baby Kemp's ridley sea turtles into the wild. In the spring and summer, nesting turtles are protected, examined and tagged @padreislandnps. Nests are moved to protected areas and monitored until they hatch. Then thousands of visitors come to see these hatchlings cruise into the ocean. They are popular events, and we can definitely see why! Video by NationalPark Service. usinterior findyourpark animals
