Bishop Wayne T Jackson Says He Will Do Benediction at Inauguration Because Jesus Said - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The upcoming inauguration has been the main topic for the last couple of weeks. Several celebrities have accepted, declined and accepted and declined their invitations to the event on January 20th. However, as it stands, the inaugural bishop is still scheduled to show up on Friday. According to TMZ, he has no intentions of pulling out, despite the backlash. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bishop #WayneTJackson of Great Faith Ministries International in Detroit told TMZ that his representation of the Bible is bigger than any political party, it's about the Man above. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Some are very very strong in their emotions about me doing this. I been called a sellout," he said. "Then, I've been having people who would say, 'Listen, this is a great honor.' Because I look at it like this, my job is a job to represent, first of all, the bible; the following and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Not about Democrats, not about Republicans. This is about making sure I do what Jesus says and that is that we're supposed to love everyone." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I have been asked to do the benediction after we have the reading from the Rabbi. It's two minutes and we're gonna be praying for unity in our nation, praying for our President and also the Vice President," he said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, Jackson is no stranger to the backlash. According to TMZ, he was criticized back in September, when Trump visited his church. What are your thoughts?

Ethics Paperwork Reportedly Missing from Trump's Wealthy Cabinet Nominees - blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In a few days, #DonaldTrump will be sworn in as President. Before the inauguration, however, a few of his Cabinet nominees will have to head to Capitol Hill for confirmation hearings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Of the 21 nominees, 14 must sit for the hearings, however, it appears, of the 14 nominees only five have completed the proper paperwork required to complete the ethics and financial review process. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All nominees, who will have to face the Senate for a confirmation hearing, must create a plan to resolve any financial conflicts of interest before they take their new positions. According to CNN, once a plan is created, the Office of Government Ethics sends the Senate the paperwork and certifications. The office then posts the paperwork on their site, about a day later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, it appears two of Trump's wealthiest nominees, who have hearings scheduled this week have yet to complete the paperwork. Betsy DeVos, whose hearing is Tuesday, and Wilbur Ross, whose hearing is Wednesday, were both reportedly missing from the ethics office's website on Monday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sources say, DeVos initial hearing date has been rescheduled because her paperwork was "nowhere near ready," CNN reports. Meanwhile, Ross has been taking his time to complete the disclosure report. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Earlier this month, the OGE Director Walter Shaub wrote a letter to express his concerns. "The announced hearing schedule for several nominees who have not completed the ethics review process is of great concern to me," he wrote. "This schedule has created undue pressure on OGE's staff and agency ethics officials to rush through these important reviews. ...In fact, OGE has not received even initial draft disclosure reports for some of the nominees scheduled for hearings." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Despite Shaub's concerns, Trump's team said the process is moving "smoothly." "For as long as I remain director, OGE's staff and agency officials will not succumb to pressure to cut corners and ignore conflicts of interest," he wrote.

8 Shot, Several Injured During #MLKDay Parade In Miami - blogged by @eleven8 - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A parade honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. turned violent in Miami’s #MemorialPark Monday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Around 4pm, two hours after the parade came to a close, eight people were shot and several others were injured in a subsequent stampede. The #MiamiHerald reports that three adults and five children under 17 were of those who were shot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Among the injured, an 18-year-old woman and 30-year-old man in stable condition, a 20-year-old man in critical condition and three minors were taken to the hospital. Two minors were grazed by bullets and treated at the scene. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Authorities say two people were detained for questioning. They also recovered two weapons. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The nature of the shooting, we don't have information on that right now,” Miami-Dade Det. Marjorie Eloi said. “We don't know how serious the injuries are. There was no gun exchange on our part.”
Carmelo Anthony On The Knicks: “If They Feel Like My Time In New York Is Over, Then It’s Time to Talk” - blogged by: @eleven8 - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Could #CarmeloAnthony’s time with the #NYKnicks be coming to an end? The #NBA star finally speaks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last week, in a news article written by someone claiming to be close to #PhilJackson, it was rumored that Carmelo Anthony is willing to waive the no-trade clause in his contract in an attempt to leave New York for the Clippers or Cavs. However, Carmelo Anthony has never said this and the comments come without proof or merit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Charley Rosen, the writer and a former assistant coach under Jackson, also wrote, “The only sure thing is that Carmelo Anthony has outlived his usefulness in New York.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was only a matter of time before Carmelo was asked about these comments, to which he replied, “If that’s the case than that’s what’s coming from that side I guess it’s a conversation we should have. If they feel like my time in New York is over I guess that’s a conversation we should have.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Despite being made aware that the comments did not come from Jackson himself, it appears Carmelo is very clear on the messenger’s close relationship to the Knicks president. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Listen,” Anthony said, “if that’s what they feel … if that’s what’s coming from that side that’s what’s coming from that side. I haven’t thought once about that to be honest with you. I hear it. I hear all the rhetoric that’s going on out there and I still come to work every day and play and bust my ass and try not to worry about it.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In conclusion, Carmelo is adamant that he has no desire to leave New York. “I’ve never even thought about that,” he added. “I guess people are talking about it but it’s not something I’ve thought about so far.”
